Two steps forward to a better environment
The emission of fine dust and nitrogen oxides (NOx) is currently under much discussion. This is reason enough for the EU to further tighten the present emissions requirements (Euro 3) for diesel engines in heavy commercial vehicles.

In October 2005 the new Euro 4 standard came into force and, in three years' time, the even stricter Euro 5 standard will come into effect. These standards are no longer achievable with the present generation of engines. For heavy commercial vehicles this means a drastic change.In order to comply with these standards, most truck manufacturers make use of SCR technology. The advantage of this technology is that vehicles that are equipped with a SCR catalyst can also comply with the stricter Euro 5 standard. The SCR catalyst reduces the nitrogen dioxide (NOx) in the exhaust gases. AdBlue® is used as a reducing agent.
We are currently working hard on the infrastructure of the filling stations to enable fuelling with AdBlue®. On 3 June 2005 Rijtex, together with Brenntag and Yara, opened the first Air1™ AdBlue® filling station in the Netherlands in Nieuweschans.
